This is a really spectacular snare. Visually the lacquer finish is very wonderful, and is very smooth and well made. It would be a compliment to any kit.
The tone of this drum is very organic. The rim shots are very strong, and the overtones incredibly musical. The warmth of this drum surprised me, it almost sounded a touch like it was a wood hooped snare, but it's not! The addition of the rosewood inner plys produces a higher pitch and more attack. It's a very impressive piece from the folks over at pork pie.
Pork Pie drums are the top-of-the-line. Standard equipment includes: 100% maple shells, Pork Rings mounting system, 2.3mm hoops, heavy duty spurs and our hour-glass shaped lug. Finish choices are limitless.
